HA2836 Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I, Field, O/U, 20 Ga., 2 3/4" & 3", 28"MC Bbls., (Used 99+%), $1,695

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Beretta Says:  686 Silver Pigeon I The 686 Silver Pigeon I hunting shotgun has all the functional features of our premium over-unders at a particularly attractive price. At its heart, it has the best-in-class 686 action, which is compact and low-profile while being extremely strong. Besides 12 and gauge, this shotgun is also available with beautifully scaled-down actions for 28 gauge and .410, for a true premium-grade experience. Whether you take it to an upland hunt or to the clay range, the Silver Pigeon I gives you the flawless performance and the classic looks of a Beretta. Featuring classic lines, the most-durable action on the market and the flexibility of the Beretta Mobil-Choke system, the 686 Silver Pigeon I was designed to last through generations of hunters. The Silver Pigeon I is built on the legendary 686 action, a long-standing favorite among hunters and competitive shooters. It features two conical locking lugs at mid-action, right between the barrels, giving it great locking strength and durability while keeping the action’s profile considerably lower. The advantage is that the eye of the shooter is a lot closer to the plane of his supporting hand: considerably better swing and hand-eye coordination. While not as elaborately decorated as our premium shotguns, the Silver Pigeon I has all the elegance that you can expect from a Beretta. The oil-finished stock sports a beautiful and crisp checkering pattern, and the schnabel fore-end adds to the classic flavor of this over-under. The scroll-engraved receiver is a functional work of art in itself, with its interesting geometry blending perfectly with the stock and contributing to the gun’s graceful lines. This is a shotgun that has all the elements of a treasured heirloom, without the price-tag to match.

Hero's Arms Says:  Built in 2018 this Beretta Silver Pigeon 1 Field has been shot fewer than 500 shots.  It is in excellent condition.  It has a 14 5/8" Length of Pull and weighs only 6 pounds 3.5 ounces.  It comes with 7 choke tubes, 5 Beretta Mobilchokes in Full, Improved Modified,  Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder, and two additions Briley Skeet chokes.  An excellent hunting gun, it can also be used for occasional skeet or sporting clays to practice for the season.  It is a bit light for regular clay target shooting IMHO.  The Automatic safety has been converted to Non-Automatic, the parts are in the stock should anyone wish to convert it back.

HA2681 Fabarm Axis Grey Field AL, O/U, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" & 3", 28" MC Bbls., (Used 99+%), $1,995

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Hero's Arms Says:   This Fabarm Axis Grey Field AL is available in Europe but this one was imported by Fabarm as a prototype to the U.S. so it is rare here. It was purchased by a member of my shooting club but he found it too light for regular skeet shooting.  It is a remarkably light, 6 pounds 8 ounce, Field gun.  It has exceptionally nice wood. It takes both 2 3/4" and 3" shells in its Tribore barrel.  A gunsmith friend of mine, who spent over a year patterning shotguns, swears that the Tribore produces the best pattern of them all.  One could shoot some skeet, sporting clays or trap as a warm up for hunting, but it is too light for high volume clay target shooting (my shoulder hurts just thinking about it).  It comes with five Fabarm Inner HP Flush Choke Tubes, in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Cylinder constrictions.  It has a 14 5/8" Length of Pull, which could be lengthened by adding a thicker Fabarm recoil pad.  It has a slight Cast Off and a slight right hand palm swell for a right handed shooter. It has a solid mid-rib to keep out debris while hunting.  I did not re-photograph it, there are slight signs of wear on the monobloc from opening and closing. The MSRP retail price listed is just a guess because it has never been catalogued in the U.S.

HA2827 Remington 121SB, MO-SKEET-O, Routledge Barrel, Pump, 22LR Shot Cartridge, (Refinished), $1,495

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Hero's Arms Says:  This Remington 121 MO-SKEET-O was probably built in November, 1946.  It has been refinished, re-blued and engraved with a Mosquito.  It has a Routledge barrel, the first 11 1/2 inches are .22 bore, the last 12 inches are .402 bore.  The Routledge barrel produces very consistent patterns, with few flyers, because the shot cloud has 12 inches to stabilize before exiting the barrel.  It has a tubular magazine which holds 14 rounds.  I had the Mosquito engraved whilst living in rural Quebec, where the mosquitoes are large.  When guest would come over for the evening I would get this gun out and tell them they were in charge of shooting the mosquitoes when they flew by.  It comes with a Cracker Launcher for back yard skeet fun.  Good for small varmints (also inside buildings) as well.  A unique item.

An elegant coin finish complements the strikingly detailed classic style engraving, creating a functional work of art. HA2820 Browning Citori White Lightning, Ambidextrous, O/U, .410 Bore, 2 1/2" & 3", 28"MC Bbls., NIB, $2,295

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Browning Says:   2019 SHOT Show Special — Lightning styling, with broad coverage engraving, extended Midas Grade choke tubes, configured for hunting and sporting clays. Oil finish, Grade III/IV walnut, lightning-style stock with Inflex recoil pad.  Intricate, broad coverage engraving. Ivory bead sight and mid-bead. Three black deluxe extended Midas Grade choke tubes included (F, M, IC). Ideal for hunting/sporting clays.

Hero's Arms Says:   Browning has kept the name White Lightning, but there are numerous changes in this 2020 model.  It has a higher grade of nicely figured black walnut than before, it has almost full coverage of a new engraving pattern, it has Ivory colored front and mid beads, it has extended choke tubes, it seems to have slight palm swells on both the right and left sides, and it has a significantly higher price.  Many of the changes seem to move it from being primarily a field gun towards making it more of an all around field and clays gun.  The Length of Pull is 14 1/8" over an Inflex II recoil pad. I have a few 1/4" and 1/2" Inflex II spacers and 1/2" recoil pads so the LOP could be made longer if desired.  It has no cast so it is equally useful for a right or left handed shooter.

HA2811 Caesar Guerini Tempio Field, Left Hand, O/U, 28 Ga., 2 3/4, 28"MC Bbls, (New-Used 99.9%), $3,395

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Caesar Guerini Says:  Previously chosen by the Editors of Field and Stream Magazine as “Best of the Best” in Shotguns, the Tempio is designed to be a sleek and fast pointing shotgun in the field; the perfect companion for upland game hunters. Its low-profile receiver matched with a trim stock, classic Prince-of-Wales grip and Schnabel fore-end make the gun a perfect match for fast game birds. The Tempio features a contemporary style of “ornato” style scroll with tasteful gold accents. The action is further enhanced by a hand polished coin finish protected by our proprietary Invisalloy™ coating. Each Caesar Guerini game gun is carefully engineered to balance near the hinge point, distributing the weight evenly between the hands, which is the secret to a finely crafted shotgun. The Tempio also features a deluxe grade of Turkish walnut enhanced with a hand rubbed oil finish. All Caesar Guerini field guns come with a velvet lined lockable hard case and five precision patterned flush chokes (CYL, IC, M, IM, F). A plastic choke case is also included.

Hero's Arms Says: Built in 2017 this gun has been in another dealer's inventory, was test fired with the red tag still on the trigger guard, never sold to a customer, and has picked up a small dent on the underside of the stock about 1" forward of the Butt Plate.  Never having been registered, it comes with the full Caesar Guerini lifetime warranty.  From all this comes the description "New-Used 99.9%".  It has very nice wood, and except for that small dent, is in new condition with all original accessories, manual and guarantee.  It is being sold at an excellent price.

HA2773 Caesar Guerini Revenant Field, Left Hand, O/U, 20M-30MC, New-In-Case, $13,245

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Caesar Guerini Says: Fine shotguns have always been the synthesis of art and function. Over the last 100 years some of the most iconic craftsmen have spent hundreds of hours hand sculpting steel, perfecting mechanical excellence and turning rare pieces of walnut into perfectly checkered stocks. Master engravers dedicate weeks of labor to turn polished metal surfaces of a shotgun into masterworks of art. The end result is the highest form of artistry and craftsmanship in firearm manufacturing. As wonderful and fascinating as these firearms are, they are little more than an unapproachable luxury item that is out of reach for the average hunter.

What if a company could use modern technology to make a shotgun that had the same qualities? That is the concept behind the new Revenant by Caesar Guerini. By the use of the most modern production technology and clever engineering Caesar Guerini has created a shotgun that is one-fifth the price of shotguns featuring the same features made one at a time by hand.

The Revenant starts with a round body action famous for its graceful curves and ads radiused side plates to further enhance the lines of the action. The fore-end is graced with a winged fore-end iron and inletted escutcheon surrounding the push-button release, both the hallmarks of the highest quality shotguns. A long trigger guard blends into a swept back pistol grip to make the profile of the Revenant what can best be described as “racy”. The barrels feature a tapered solid top rib and mid rib.

To further the goal of making an extraordinary firearm, Caesar Guerini turned to a world leader in fine engraving Bottega C. Giovanelli and their Director and Master engraver Dario Cortini. His vision was to create a new and original motif for the Revenant utilizing organic forms instead of a common variation on scroll. To this end he drew a design of maple leaves and branches that are both elegant and evoke a hunting theme.

Hero's Arms Says:  Spectacular wood and engraving. Just check out the photos. The solid ribs keep hunting debris out. What a fine hunting gun, also for Skeet and /sporting clays.

HA2592 Caesar Guerini Invictus-VII Sporting, O/U, 12 Ga., 2 3/4", 30"MC Bbls., New-In-Case, $9,350*

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Caesar Guerini Says: In our ongoing pursuit to make the best Target shotgun possible, Caesar Guerini has created the Invictus. Featuring the greatest advancement in over-under durability in many years – the Invictus System. This revolutionary new system completely changes the way the barrel and action lock together when the gun is closed, making the whole system stronger. Additionally, all locking surfaces are now modular, creating a gun that is many times more durable than a traditional over-and-under shotguns. For the first time you can measure the life span of your shotgun not by how long you can shoot it, but how long your children and grandchildren can.

Hero's Arms Says:  This is an inexpensive shotgun when you consider that you will never have to replace it no matter how much you shoot.  It is available only from Caesar Guerini Elite Dealers. It has beautifully figured wood, a new engraving pattern and a Length of Pull adjustable between 14 3/4" and 15 1/8".  Its 30 inch barrels have 2 3/4" chambers, and it has all the features common to Caesar Guerini Sporting shotguns.  An excellent explanation of the new mechanism in the Invictus is in an article in Shotgun Life by Nick Sisley.  This is a revolutionary shotgun, suitable for collecting, skeet, sporting clays, trap or upland hunting..

HA2552 SKB 690 Field, O/U, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" & 3", 28"MC Bbls, New-In-Box, $1,045

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

SKB Says:  The box lock receiver is precisely cut by state of the art CNC machines, from a solid billet of chrome-moly steel. The locking bar is located in the base of the action. The engagement of the locking bar and the barrel lug extends across the full length of the monobloc creating a secure lock to the receiver.

Hero's Arms Says:  This new SKB 690 Field is a beautiful all around shotgun, at a remarkable price.  It has high gloss blue barrels, and high gloss walnut finish, along with a white chrome engraved receiver.  It weighs only 7 pounds 4 ounces, and comes with five choke tubes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Skeet constrictions.  It has a 14 5/8" Length of Pull over a solid rubber butt pad.  It can be used for waterfowl or upland hunting, for occasional skeet, sporting clays or trap.  I think SKB has hit a home run with this new 690.

HA2535 SKB 200HR High Rib Sporting, Left Hand, SxS, 12 Ga.,  2 3/4" & 3", 30"MC Bbls., New In Box, $2,195

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

SKB Says:  SKB 200 High Rib Target SxS  Features 24 line hand checkered. Left Hand Cast Stocks Available On Limited 200HR Models. All side by side shotguns are equipped with the flush fit thin wall choke tube system. Accessory, Extended style, choke tubes are available. Raised Ventilated Rib With Matted Radial Cut Pattern. Target Sights Center Bead and White Front Bead. Pistol Grip Stock with Pachmayr SC100 Pad. Schnabel Forend. The trigger plate action features a non-selectable single trigger with a firing sequence of right then left barrel. Our crisp feeling trigger is a combination of the length of travel and applied finger pressure to release the hammer. As the trigger is pulled rearward, the sear tail lifts vertically; releasing the sear from the hammer. Simultaneously the V-shaped hammer spring propels the hammer forward providing nearly instantaneous lock time. The slender barrel profiles and reduced barrel weight are obtained by utilizing a platform lump mount and thin wall choke tubes. The platform lump utilizes a double under locking lug providing a solid engagement between the barrel and receiver.

Hero's Arms Says:  This is an elegant, beautifully crafted Left Hand 12 Gauge side by side, suitable for competition or hunting.  It has a beautiful case colored receiver, attractive Turkish Walnut furniture, and blued barrels.  The stock has a left hand palm swell and a Cast On of 1/8".  The slope of the High Rib makes it shoot slightly above the point of aim, making it good for Trap and other target sports as well as hunting. It comes with five Flush Thin Wall choke tubes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Skeet constrictions.  Other chokes, both flush and extended are available from SKB.  It has a 14 3/4" Length of Pull over a Decelerator Sporting recoil pad (a hard plastic insert at the top allows for quick shouldering without snagging).

HA2458 Beretta 687EELL, Diamond Pigeon, O/U, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" &3", 28"MC Bbls., (Used 97%), Cased, $3,795

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Beretta Says:  687 EELL Diamond Pigeon: Luxury and Performance  The 687 EELL is the absolute top of the line of Beretta’s 680-series over-under shotguns. It features sideplates that act as extra canvas for the lavish hand-chased engraving, as well as a specially-selected walnut stock that gives it a true heirloom quality. But while it certainly figures well while on display, the Diamond Pigeon’s worth as a game gun is equally striking. Weighing about 7 lbs (12-ga version), and with the point of balance right at the hinge-pin, it is a shotgun that comes up naturally to the shoulder while still having enough of a lively feeling forward of the supporting hand. This is an over-under with the feel and allure of a classic, for the discriminating hunter who appreciates all the finer points of a perfectly-made gun.  Premium Hand-Chased Engraving, Premium Stock The full sideplates of the 687 EELL feature a super-fine classic game scene, and are enhanced by intricately detailed motifs of branches, leaves and flowers that extend to the trigger plate, trigger guard and fore-end iron lever. The proportions of the engraving blend wonderfully with the dimensions of the shotgun, giving you the sense of a work of art within a work of art. The stock is a classic semi-beavertail, with premium-quality European walnut and a newly designed fine-line checkering. An oval brass shield, inlaid on the stock, will allow you to personalize your gun with initials or a family crest, while the handsome and durable carrying case will protect the shotgun on all your hunting adventures. A Classic Choice for Hunting This shotgun will shine in any hunting situation. This is because it is built on a receiver that is equally strong and low-profile. The 687 action has two conical locking lugs at mid-height, meaning that it will always lock up strongly and positively while not requiring the extra bulk and weight for a top locking lever. This further means that when you bring it up to the shoulder, the vertical distance between your eye and your supporting hand is minimized: this shotgun will follow your sight easily and instinctively. And in spite of its beauty, the 687 action is noted for its strength, so this is a shotgun that you can confidently pass down to the next generation of hunters.

Hero's Arms Says:      This Beretta 687EELL Diamond Pigeon has been used and has minor handling marks to show it.  These reduce its condition to 97% in my opinion.  The Blue Book values this gun, in 95% condition, at $5,500.  This is an all around gun for collecting, hunting, skeet and sporting clays.  It comes with six choke tubes in Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, Skeet, Skeet and Cylinder constrictions and other Mobilchokes are easy to find.  The wood and engraving are spectacular.  This is a very high grade gun.

HA2341 Caesar Guerini Ellipse Curve, O/U, 20 Ga., 2 3/4" & 3", 28"MC Bbls., New-In-Case, $7,050*

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Caesar Guerini Says:  The world’s best shotguns can cost as much as a quarter of a million dollars and take years to make. The engraving alone can account for up to one third of the price. The result is a shotgun that combines art and function in a way that few man-made objects can match. As wonderful and fascinating as these firearms are, they are little more than an unapproachable luxury item that is out of reach for the average hunter. What if a company could use modern technology to make a shotgun that had the same qualities? That is the concept behind the new Ellipse Curve.

The Curve is based off of Caesar Guerini’s Ellipse round body action. This type of action not only provides a clean uncluttered look, but also makes for a trim profile. It’s these trim lines that make the Curve a responsive and natural pointing bird gun. Combine responsive handling with Caesar Guerini’s reputation for reliability and you have the makings of a world-class shotgun. However, that is not the whole story with the Curve. The engraving is also groundbreaking in quality. The execution is of a level that has only recently become achievable through the most cutting edge technology. It is this combination of art and technology that allows the Curve to reach this level of craftsmanship at a fraction of the cost.

Hero's Arms Says:  This is a beautifully engraved Caesar Guerini Ellipse Curve, only available from Caesar Guerini Elite dealers.  It has 28", 2 3/4" & 3", barrels with solid top and mid ribs, 5 nickel plated Selecta choke tubes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Skeet constrictions. Other are available from Caesar Guerini.  I believe the lady depicted on the bottom of the receiver is Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt, but I have never seen her in person.  It weighs six pounds nine ounces.  All in all this is an elegant hunting gun, useful also for Skeet and Sporting Clays.

HA1894 Browning Belgian Superposed Grade V (Diana) 2 Barrel Combo, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" 28"IC/IC, and 12 Ga., 2 3/4" 26 3/8" SK/SK, Cased, (Used 99%), Cased, $6,995

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

This Browning Grade V (Diana) combo, first sold in 1956, is in exceptional condition.  There are a few very minor dings in the wood but the bluing and engraving are near mint.  It came originally with a 28 inch barrel set, barrel 1, choked Full and Modified.  These barrels were later opened up to Improved Cylinder and Improved Cylinder (Briley choke tubes could be installed if desired to get back to Full and Modified).  The second barrel set, 26 3/8" in Skeet and Skeet constrictions, barrel 2, was installed later by Browning and numbered to the gun.  A Limbsaver recoil pad has been mounted but the original Browning pad is in the case.  The Length of Pull with the original pad is the correct 14 1/4", with the Limbsaver it is 14 1/2". It has a Prince of Wales (Round Knob) Long Tang configuration. The wood is nicely figured. The Browning case is in good condition and contains the original owner’s manual numbered to the gun.  The deeply incised engraving by Browning Master Engraver Doyen is exceptionally beautiful - I personally prefer the Grade V deeply incised engraving to the earlier and later Diana styles.  I shot a round of skeet with the 26 3/8" barrels and the gun functioned flawlessly.  This is a real collector’s dream, which could also be used for hunting, skeet or sporting clays.

HA1301 Browning Pre-War Superposed, Midas Level Upgrade, Double Single Triggers, English Stock, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" 30"IC/M Bbls., Cased, $6,995

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

The receiver for this Superposed was probably manufactured in 1932, but it was first sold in 1936 for $59.46.  As it left the factory it was a standard grade with specially ordered Improved Cylinder and Modified choking, and twin single triggers. (Browning Factory Letter) Unlike most double trigger guns the front trigger will fire first the bottom then reset itself and fire the top barrel,  The rear trigger will fire the top barrel, then one must use the front trigger to fire the bottom barrel.  One can also use it just like a normal double trigger gun. It has a solid rib and the "horseshoe" bracket on the front of the forearm, which distinguishes it from later versions of the Superposed.  In 1984 it was purchased by Thomas Grogg, an engraver, who engraved it and put in solid 18 Karat gold inlays and lines.  On the left side of the receiver is a Mallard, the right side is a Canada Goose. On the pre-1936 Midas Superposed there were pigeons on both sides of the receiver, so this is not a copy or an attempt to fake being a Midas Grade, but a Midas level upgrade.  After it was engraved in 1984 it was reblued and refinished by a gunsmith who formerly ran the Browning refinishing shop. There was some cracking in the finish of the stock, as was normal for Brownings of that era, so it was refinished with an oil finish by Klaus Hiptmayer who also refreshed the engraving. There is probably more than a thousand dollars worth of gold in this gun.  Grogg's signature is on the lower right side of the receiver just behind the pivot pin.  It has two recoil pads, a Pachmayr Old English, and a Browning Vent Rubber pad.  I purchased it from Grogg. The gun has had about 200 rounds fired since 1984
