Browning Shotguns

HA2917 Browning Cynergy CX Synthetic, Ambidextrous.  12 Ga., 2 3/4" & 3" 30"MC Bbls, New-In-Box, $1,695

Browning Says: Break Through. Even though you might shoot just a little trap, break a few sporting clays, and chase pheasants in the fall, a safe full of over and under shotguns in more fantasy than reality. Rejoice. Your never-ending quest to find the one gun designed to perform in multiple disciplines is over. Cynergy CX models combine a 60/40 point of impact (POI) with a light nimble feel to please the most demanding shooters, both on the range and in the field. Cynergy style and performance in a perfect package. The Cynergy made a technological breakthrough with its MonoLock Hinge, making it possible to create an over under shotgun with an ultra-low profile receiver. The design allows you and the gun to integrate and point as one - technology and biology working in tandem to become a formidable force on the range destroying clays, or in the field taking birds.

Hero's Arms Says: This new Cynergy Synthetic CX is ambidextrous.  The synthetic pistol grip and forearm are covered with Dura Touch which gives an excellent grip.  It accepts 2 3/4" and 3" shells in its 30" Invector Plus choke barrels.  Its rib has a slight forward slope so it shoots 60% above point of aim, 40% below, making it useful for all target sports. It comes with three Midas Grade Invector Plus choke tubes in Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder, and Hero's Arms has added a Midas Grade Skeet Choke.   The ambidextrous comb of the stock can be raised in 1/8" increments by pushing out a pin and sliding the comb forward, then back over a different groove.   It  has a 14 1/4" Length of pull, and a spacer for 14 1/2".  Because it has a true mechanical trigger, sub-gauge tubes could be installed without trigger modifications. Its Center of Gravity is forward for the hinge for a smooth swing.  It can be used for anything, upland hunting, waterfowl, skeet, sporting clays or trap, truly a one gun solution.

HA2924 Browning Citori White Lightning, Ambidextrous, O/U, 28 Ga., 2 3/4", 28"MC Bbls., NIB, $2,395

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Browning Says:   2019 SHOT Show Special — Lightning styling, with broad coverage engraving, extended Midas Grade choke tubes, configured for hunting and sporting clays. Oil finish, Grade III/IV walnut, lightning-style stock with Inflex recoil pad.  Intricate, broad coverage engraving. Ivory bead sight and mid-bead. Three black deluxe extended Midas Grade choke tubes included (F, M, IC). Ideal for hunting/sporting clays.

Hero's Arms Says:   Browning has kept the name White Lightning, but there are numerous changes in this 2021 model.  It has a higher grade of nicely figured black walnut than before, it has almost full coverage of a new engraving pattern, it has Ivory colored front and mid beads, it has extended choke tubes, it seems to have slight palm swells on both the right and left sides, and it has a significantly higher price.  Many of the changes seem to move it from being primarily a field gun towards making it more of an all around field and clays gun.  The Length of Pull is 14 1/8" over an Inflex II recoil pad. I have a few 1/4" and 1/2" Inflex II spacers and 1/2" recoil pads so the LOP could be made longer if desired.  It has no cast so it is equally useful for a right or left handed shooter.

HA2856 Browning Citori White Satin, Ambidextrous, O/U, 410 Bore. 2 1/2", 3", 28"MC Bbls., NIB $1,695

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Browning Says: Description: Receiver – Steel with silver nitride finish; gold enhanced Buck Mark.  Barrels – Satin finished 28" barrels;  gold front bead. Action – Single selective trigger; Hammer ejectors; Top tang selector/safety. Stock – Hunter style buttstock and Lightning style forearm; Grade I walnut; Satin finish. Features – Three Invector choke tubes (F,M,IC)

Hero's Arms Says:  This is a great all-around Ambidextrous 410  Bore shotgun.  Very plain, but with a gold Buckmark Logo on the receiver, very functional.   It has a vented recoil pad and weighs 7 pounds which is easy to carry.  For the recoil sensitive a 7 pound 410 with a vent rubber recoil pad should be ideal. It comes with Invector choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder constrictions, and others are widely available. Good for hunting, skeet, and sporting clays.  This model is a Davidson's exclusive, so it has the Davidson's Lifetime repair/replacement warranty in addition to Browning's warranty.

HA1178 Browning Recoilless Trap, Bolt-Action, Single Shot, 12 Ga., 2 3/4", 27"MC Bbl, (Used 96%), $1,495

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Hero's Arms Says:    This Browning Recoilless Trap was built in 1994 and has picked up some surface wear making it 96% condition.  It is a very innovative gun, ideal for the recoil sensitive shooter.  It consists of two modules.  The first module is the barrel, chamber, and bolt housing.  The second module is the chassis, consisting of the stock, outer receiver, forearm, adjustable rib and barrel guide.  Its basic concept is that a spring is cocked, and released when the gun is fired,  pushing the barrel module forward against the recoil of the shot.  This reduces recoil by what Browning claims is 72%, so it is not quite recoilless, but it is a pleasure to shoot.  Its 9 pound 4 ounce weight also helps with the recoil. Before shooting one turns the gun upside down, opens the forearm latch, moves the back of the forearm up, lowers the lever inside the forearm into a slot in the barrel module, and by pushing down cocks the spring pushing against the barrel module. Then one puts the lever back inside the forearm, and closes and latches the forearm to the gun.  This only has to be done once a day as the residual recoil re-cocks the spring while shooting.  Once the gun has had the spring cocked one uses the bolt action in the normal way.  Lift the handle and pull it all the way back, which cocks the trigger, put in a shell and close the bolt.  Call for your target and shoot. There is no safety, this gun is only loaded on the pad before shooting.  At the end of the day pull the trigger once with no shell in the barrel module and the spring will return to its un-cocked state for cleaning and storage.  The barrel is cleaned from the muzzle end. To fit the gun to the shooter and the target the recoil pad can be moved up and down, the Length of Pull can be adjusted between 13 1/2" and 14 1/2" with the four included 1/4" spacers, and the rib can be set to shoot 3", 6" or 9" above the point of aim at 40 yards.  Further details can be found in the Owner's Manual PDF.  I'm not ordinarily a trap shooter, but I shot a round of trap with his gun and it worked fine.

HA1301 Browning Pre-War Superposed, Midas Level Upgrade, Double Single Triggers, English Stock, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" 30"IC/M Bbls., Cased, $6,995

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

The receiver for this Superposed was probably manufactured in 1932, but it was first sold in 1936 for $59.46.  As it left the factory it was a standard grade with specially ordered Improved Cylinder and Modified choking, and twin single triggers. (Browning Factory Letter) Unlike most double trigger guns the front trigger will fire first the bottom then reset itself and fire the top barrel,  The rear trigger will fire the top barrel, then one must use the front trigger to fire the bottom barrel.  One can also use it just like a normal double trigger gun. It has a solid rib and the "horseshoe" bracket on the front of the forearm, which distinguishes it from later versions of the Superposed.  In 1984 it was purchased by Thomas Grogg, an engraver, who engraved it and put in solid 18 Karat gold inlays and lines.  On the left side of the receiver is a Mallard, the right side is a Canada Goose. On the pre-1936 Midas Superposed there were pigeons on both sides of the receiver, so this is not a copy or an attempt to fake being a Midas Grade, but a Midas level upgrade.  After it was engraved in 1984 it was reblued and refinished by a gunsmith who formerly ran the Browning refinishing shop. There was some cracking in the finish of the stock, as was normal for Brownings of that era, so it was refinished with an oil finish by Klaus Hiptmayer who also refreshed the engraving. There is probably more than a thousand dollars worth of gold in this gun.  Grogg's signature is on the lower right side of the receiver just behind the pivot pin.  It has two recoil pads, a Pachmayr Old English, and a Browning Vent Rubber pad.  I purchased it from Grogg. The gun has had about 200 rounds fired since 1984

HA1796 Browning Citori 725 Feather, O/U, 12 Ga., 2 3/4" & 3", 28"MC InvDS, Bbls., NIB, $2,395

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

Browning Says:  RECEIVER Lightweight alloy with steel breech face and hinge pin • Low-Profile • Silver nitride finish • Accented, high-relief Engraving BARREL Ventilated top rib ACTION Fire Lite Mechanical Trigger system • Hammer ejectors • Top-tang barrel selector/safety STOCK Gloss oil finish Grade II/III Walnut with close radius pistol grip FEATURES Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones • Three Invector-DS choke tubes • Ivory front and mid-bead sights

Hero's Arms Says:  At 6 pounds 9 ounces this is an exceptionally light hunting gun.  You could also use it for occasional clay target shooting, but its light weight would make recoil unbearable in competition.  It chambers both 2 3/4" and 3" shells in its 28" barrels, and comes with Invector DS Choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved  Cylinder.  It has a 14 1/4" Length of Pull over an Inflex 2 Sporting recoil pad which has a slippery top for snag free mounting.
