HA908 Browning Superposed (Belgium) Lightning Trap, O/U, 12 Ga. 2 3/4", 30" M/F Bbls., (Used 98%), $1,595

This Browning Superposed Lightning Trap was made in 1972 and is in excellent (98%) condition. The Blue Book says about this short period of Superposed production (between 1971 and 1973 when production switched to Miroku in Japan) "During 1970-71, the stock configuration was once again changed to a full pistol grip (referred to as flat knob), and the long tang was brought back. Also at this time, mechanical triggers were implemented vs. the older inertial design, and silver solder vent. ribs vs. tin solder. As a result, this period of Superposed manufacture was mechanically better and more reliable." This gun has a Trap configuration, a high stock with almost no drop from the front to back of the comb, a beavertail forearm for better recoil control, and fixed chokes with Full (.38") and Modified (.19") constrictions. The bluing is in excellent condition, there are a few tiny chips in finish of the (possibly refinished) stock. There are small 3/8" long cracks in the wood of the stock on the sides just above the trigger at the place where the bottom point of the receiver meets the wood. The original butt plate has been replaced professionally with a Pachmayer "Old English" pad, giving a Length of Pull of just under 14" (13 15/16"). The LOP could be increased by installing a thicker pad. All together this is an excellent choice for trap shooting, or for hunting as it weighs only 7 pounds 13 ounces.

This Browning BPS is a quality Ambidextrous trap gun at an affordable price. It has a 30" barrel with a high, vented tapered trap rib and HiViz front and Ivory Mid Bead sights. It weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces, which in conjunction with a thick vented rubber butt pad will soak up a lot of recoil. It has extensive engraving on both sides of the receiver. As it loads and ejects from the bottom, shells can fall right into your hand (shooting singles) or right at your feet, not crossing your line of sight or hitting other shooters. It has a rotating magazine cut-off which allows for reloading with a different load than is in the magazine. The top of the Monte Carlo stock is parallel with the sight plane so you will see the same sight picture whether your head is a bit forward or back on the stock - the drop at comb and at the back of the Monte Carlo are both 1 3/8". It comes with three Invector Plus choke tubes in Full, Improved Modified, and Modified constrictions to cover all trap shooting situations. A beautiful gun for any clay target sport, it weighs 7 pounds 12 ounces (steel receiver for weight and durability) and has a Twin Shock Absorber recoil pad (with a translucent Technogel insert) which should make for a very comfortable day of shooting, and which can be replaced to change the Length Of Pull to 14 3/4 or 15". This Baikal shotgun was manufactured in Russia by Izhevsky mekhanichesky zavod and was imported and guaranteed by Remington. This is a 7 pound 12 ounce 12 Gauge over/under with 28 1/2" multi-choke chrome lined barrels. By turning screws on the face of the receiver a quarter-turn it can be converted from ejecting shells to lifting-extracting them, and back again. It normally fires the bottom barrel first, but if you press the trigger forward until it clicks it will fire the top barrel first. The trigger is mechanical so a dud does not keep the second barrel from firing. It has 1/4" Cast Off so it is for a right-hander. The Length of Pull is only 13 13/16" so shooters of less than average height (5'0" to 5'6") will find that it fits them well. It has a good trigger-pull at 5 lbs 11 ounce. It comes with 4 choke tubes in Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Cylinder constrictions, and Hero's Arms has added a 5th tube in Skeet constriction. Baikal shotguns are very reliable and strong. This is an excellent choice for a starter over/under, suitable for hunting or any kind of clay target shooting. HA444 Fabarms Gamma 2 Competition O/U 12 Ga. 3", 30" Tribore MC Bbls., NIC, $1,895

The Fabarms Gamma 2 Competition is an all around clay shooting gun. It weighs 7 lbs 13.5 ounces, heavy enough to calm the recoil, not so heavy as to be tiring to carry. Its 6 position adjustable trigger allows the Length Of Pull to be adjusted from about 14 3/8" to 14 3/4". Te forend iron, top lever, non-automatic safety and barrel selector are titanium protected, the steel receiver is coated with zirconium, nickel. The receiver is engraved with an elegant floral scroll, and it has the Fabarms Lion Rampant in gold on the bottom. The barrels have Fabarm's "Tribore" technology. They feature a 3 inch chamber with an extra long forcing cone, followed by an overbored (to .736") barrel, which then turns into a gradual cone, reducing in diameter from .736" to 722" over a distance of about 10 inches, before a short cylindrical area of about 2 inches just before the screw in choke tubes. It comes with eight Titanium protected Extended chokes in Full, Light Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Light Modified, Improved Cylinder, Skeet, and Cylinder bores. According to Fabarm, the Tribore barrel increases shot penetration by 52%. This gun was imported by Sigarms but I don't believe they guarantee it, and there is no manual. So the only guarantee is the 7 day inspection period from Hero's Arms.

Franchi Says: The Franchi I-12 Limited effortlessly combines art and function. The upland field gun has a satin-nickel receiver, strikingly accented with inlaid gold game birds. The metalwork is complemented by a stock cut from AA-grade walnut that has been hand rubbed for a traditional oil finish. Cut-checkering on the pistol grip and fore-end create an attractive and positive gripping surface. The I-12 Limited is slender and perfectly balanced, and, like all Franchi shotguns, it is lightweight, at close to 7-1/2 pounds. It tames recoil with the Twin Shock Absorber™ (TSA) system, a two-part recoil pad with a special gel insert. The pad soaks up recoil energy and spreads the kick over the widest area possible. With TSA, felt recoil is reduced by as much as 44 percent.

Hero's Arms Says: This gun was purchased directly from Franchi, and was supposed to be used, but it didn't seem to have ever been unwrapped, so I'm selling it "As-New-In-Case" for a reduced price. It still has the warranty card and manual. The wood is very nice, Franchi calls it AA in some places and AAA in others. This gun weighs 7 pounds 2.5 ounces and has a 14 1/4" Length Of Pull, but with a replacement TSA pad (which I have in stock) the LOP can be 14 1/2" or 14 3/4". The nickel alloy receive with white gold birds is quite striking. All together this Benelli-Style Inertial action is easy to keep clean and quite reliable.
