HA602 Franchi Renaissance Sporting Adjustable Comb, 12 Gauge 2 3/4" & 3", 30"MC Ported Bbls., Briley 20 Ga. Side-Kicks (Used 99%) $1,895

This Franchi Renaissance Sporting has been used for a few months. It is a beautiful gun for any clay target sport, it weighs 7 pounds 14.5 ounces (steel receiver for weight and durability) and has a Twin Shock Absorber recoil pad (with a translucent Technogel insert) which has a 14 1/2" Length of Pull. Other TSA pads are available or on back-order which will give a 14.75" or 15" LOP. It has an adjustable Monte Carlo stock which can be used to set the gun for left or right handed shooters, and for Trap, Skeet or Sporting Clays. It has a right handed palm swell. The sight is a lime green fiber optic for quick target acquisition. The barrels are ported to reduce recoil and allow for a quicker second shot. It comes with 5 choke tubes in Modified, Improved Cylinder, two Skeet and Cylinder constrictions, others are widely available as they interchange with Benelli tubes. The safety is manual, not automatic, so you won't miss a target because you forgot to take the gun off safe. The receiver has highly detailed engraving and a gold clay pigeon on each side, with another on the top lever. It comes cased with a stock wrench, a choke tube wrench, and oil. A set of used 20 Gauge Briley Side-Kick inserts are included (these cost $300 new) and allow the gun to shoot and eject 20 Gauge shells. I took this gun out for a couple of rounds of skeet, shot a 24 with the 12 Gauge and a 21 with the Briley inserts (not their fault, my usual misses). My shooting companions told me I should keep it.

Hero's Arms says: this is a great competition gun, particularly for a larger than normal, strong, right-handed shooter (it has a right-handed palm swell). The LX-692G is manufactured by Fabrique Arms Isidoro Rizzini (F.A.I.R) in Italy. This 28 Gauge over under, with 30" barrels, is well suited to clay target sports, and at under 6 1/2 pounds it is easy to carry.. Profusely engraved and gold accented sideplates make for an exceptionally attractive firearm. The highly figured, oil finish, walnut stock has hand cut checkering, a pistol grip and 14 7/16" Length of Pull over a solid rubber sporting style butt pad. It has Cast Off of 1/4" for right handed shooters. The forearm has a schnabel design. It comes with five interchokes (more are available from Trulock) in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder constrictions. This Beretta AL391 Teknys Gold was fired fewer than 25 times before being traded in to Hero's Arms. It is basically in perfect condition. Hero's Arms has added a Briley 4" extension tube so that now it can be a 26" upland hunting gun, or a 30" duck, sporting clays or skeet gun. It shoots both 2 3/4" and 3" shells from its 3 in. chamber, the receiver has engraved hunting scenes, jeweled breech bolt and carrier, checkered deluxe walnut stock and forearm with green colored enamel inserts in rear receiver and front of stock, includes Gel-Tek recoil pad, and stock recoil reducer. It also has inserts for changing the drop and cast of the stock, and an ordinary buttplate. The length of pull can be adjusted by buying different thickness gel pads. It comes with five Optima Plus choke tubes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Cylinder constrictions. These screw directly into the barrel, or, if the Briley Extension is installed, into the Extension.

An excellent all around choice for sporting clays, skeet or hunting (because it has 3" chambers), this Browning Citori Sporting Grade 1 weighs 7 pounds 8.5 ounces, and has 28" ported barrels with Invector Plus choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. (Invector Plus Choke tubes in other constrictions are widely available). It has a right handed palm swell and no cast, which make it suitable for most shooters. It has a close-radius pistol grip for better control, and the matte finish of the wood could be highlighted with oil or wax if a shiny finish is preferred. The gun comes with three triggers, each of which can be mounted in one of three positions, providing some adjustment to the length of pull. The Length of Pull is 15 1/16" making this suitable for the taller than average shooter. It has both 12 Gauge and 20 Gauge barrels, each 28" long, with chambers in both gauges which will shoot both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. It comes with 5 chokes in each gauge, in 12 gauge: Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder and 2 Briley Skeet chokes added by Hero's Arms. This Winchester Select Model 101 looks very much like the 101 Winchester imported from Japan from 1961 to 1987, but this one is made in Belgium by Fabrique National (which made the Browning Superposed) and has an action similar to the other Winchester Select shotguns, with a Beretta style lockup. As a 12 Gauge which takes 2 3/4" & 3" shells in 28" barrels with Invector Plus choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder supplied Skeet Available) and a non-Automatic safety, this is very much an all-around gun suitable for hunting or clay target sports. It has a fairly short Length Of Pull, at 14 3/16", and no cast, so it would best fit a slightly shorter than average shooter, either right or left handed. It's list price is $2,061 but Hero's Arms got a deal on it so we are selling it for only $1,475, probably less than anybody else. It comes with a Lifetime Replacement warranty from Davidson's. So the only guarantee is the 7 day inspection period from Hero's Arms.

A famous name, L. C. Smith, has been revived by Marlin with this Italian made (by Fausti Stefano) Over and Under 12 Gauge shotgun. As with the original L.C. Smiths it has a case colored receiver, and attractive fleur-de-lis checkering (all it needs is an entwined serpent and it would be the Hero's Arms Logo). It has a 28" Barrel, chambered for 2 3/4" or 3" shells, and comes with three screw in choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder constrictions. This Rizzini is a very well made and attractive .410 suitable for Skeet, upland hunting and Sporting Clays. It has a Prince of Wales stock with a 14 3/4" Length of Pull, and rubber butt pad. Emphasizing its potential for use as a hunting gun, it comes with a set of sling swivels. HA176 Browning Cynergy Sporting O/U 12 Gauge 30" Ported MC Barrels, NIB, $2095 $500 VALUE REBATE

Browning's Cynergy has a number of innovations which make it unique. This Sporting Ported model is a 12 Gauge Over/Under with a unique monobloc/receiver circular lock which is held in place by lugs from the breech face. This allows the receiver to be only 2.385" high, possibly the lowest around, reducing muzzle rise on recoil. The new "Inflex" recoil system allows for considerable gun movement to reduce felt recoil by a claimed 25%. There will be three sizes of recoil pad available from Browning Parts Department, small, medium, and large (1/2" differences in length), which in combination with a spacer (one of which is included with the gun) allows the Length of Pull to be varied from 13 3/4 to 15" in 1/4" increments (as it comes it can be 14 1/4" or 14 1/2"). In addition the length of pull can be further varied by positioning the trigger shoe in one of three spots on the trigger plate. The top lever is sculpted. The gun comes with the assortment of parts that has become standard for high grade Browning target shotguns: a set of interchangeable HiViz sights; three trigger shoes; chamber locks; a choke tube wrench; an Allen Wrench; and Invector Plus chokes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder; others easily available). The trigger guard is large enough to use wearing gloves - a plus in Vermont winters. The overall design was created by Serge Rusac who also designed Ducatti motorcycles. I find the gun mounts very smoothly, and will probably break a lot of targets for someone.

Winchester's evolving follow-on to the 101 has taken another step with this Select Sporting Energy Adjustable 12 Gauge over/under shotgun. With its distinctive checkering pattern in ovals and its matt/gloss receiver and matt barrels it is instantly recognizable. The barrels are chambered for 2 3/4" shells and are overbored to .739 to reduce felt recoil and improve patterning. The 28 inch barrels are ported and have Invector Plus chokes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder Supplied, others readily available). The Length of Pull is 14 7/8" but the trigger can be adjusted in two positions to alter this. The stock has a right hand palm swell on a close radius pistol grip and an adjustable comb which can alter the cast on or off, and adjust the drop to the shooters choice. The hard case includes tools for adjusting the comb of the stock, a choke wench, extra inserts for the Truglo front sight, and chamber locks. The lock-up is similar to a Beretta, and the gun balances right at the hinge point. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is $2,030 but Hero's Arms is offering it at only $1,700.

A very attractive New-In-The-Box 20 gauge Browning Citori Ultra XS Sporting shotgun with 28" ported barrels with 2 3/4" chambers. Manufactured in Japan by SKB (Sakaba) for Weatherby this Athena III combines the renowned strength, reliability and precision of SKB manufacturing with the elegance and attention to detail of Weatherby. The 28" barrels have 3" chambers in 20 Gauge, and come with three Integral Multi-Choke System screw in chokes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder- Skeet Tubes Available) which interchange with Briley chokes.
