HA343 Arizaga (Gaspar) Side by Side DT Shotgun, 12 Ga. 2 3/4", 28"LM/LF, 80% Condition, $295
For a full page of photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.
A gun which shows signs of quality workmanship, this 12 Gauge side-by-side was made in Eibar, Spain, home of the Spanish/Basque firearms industry by Gaspar Arizaga a recognized manufacturer as their Mondial (world) model. It has fallen on hard times, the wood looks like it has been tossed in piles of guns, the metal shows some abrasions (although the case coloring on the receiver is still bright), and, adding insult to injury, a geographically challenged employ of the importer etched on the underside of the barrel that it was "Made in Belgium", which it clearly was not. In any event this would make a rewarding project gun, a home defense gun, or a "beater" depending on your taste. I had thought of cutting off the barrel to 18" or 19" and the stock behind the Prince of Wales Grip, remounting the back swivel on the tip of the grip and calling it a Lupara, (the short barreled-still legal length-shotgun favored in Sicily for protection against wolves) but I have not seen many wolves in Vermont. Your call.

HA527 Colt 1878 TTN Reproduction Coach Gun, Hammers, DT, 12 Ga. 3", 20" Cylinder Bbls., NIB, $425
For a full page of photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.
This reproduction of a Colt 1878 Model SxS Hammer Shotgun was made in China specifically for Cowboy Action shooting. It is, as far as I can tell, an absolutely authentic copy of the Colt 1878 which Hero's Arms sold to the importer in 2002, which they subsequently sent to China. The variance from the original are principally for safety in that it has fluid steel barrels, instead of Damascus, and 3" chambers for modern shells. It is built to a very high standard, both barrels are an absolutely straight .733" inside diameter, unusual on all but the highest quality guns, the wood to metal fit is excellent, and the gun functioned flawlessly for a round of skeet. As with the original there is no safety, aside from not cocking the hammers. Again, as with the original it has a very large drop at the comb and heel, and a steel buttplate. This should be a very authentic Old West style coach gun for Cowboy Action shooting. It could also be a reasonable home defense gun because the hammers provide a visible indication of cocking.

HA496 Ithaca Model 66 SuperSingle Lever Opening, 12 Ga. 3", 28" IM Barrel, (Used 90%) $200
For a full page of photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.
An unusual 12 Gauge single shot shotgun, it breaks open when the lever is pushed down. It has an extractor which lifts the fired shell, and a hammer which must be manually cocked before firing. Its 28" barrel is choked Improved Modified, and it has sling studs. Because of its unique action there is apparently some collector interest, but it would also be some fun to shoot. This is from the same company that imported Perazzi single barreled trap shotguns in the 1970s, but it is a bit less expensive.

The Kahn Clays, made in Turkey, has the features desired by sporting clays shooters - ported barrels - high vent rib - two part slip recoil pad - automatic ejectors - heavy to tame the recoil - Close Radius Pistol Grip - long forcing cone - all at a reasonable price.
