HA401 Franchi Alcione (Right Handed) Field 12 Ga. 3", 26"MC Bbls., NIC $1,310

This is a Right Handed Field gun. The stock has about 1/4" of "Cast-Off" (The Butt is to the right of the center-line of the gun, so the right eye will fall naturally on the center of the gun). It has an automatic safety, and chambers 3" shells (and 2 3/4" also, of course) as is appropriate for a hunting gun. The Length of Pull is 14 9/16" over a sporting butt pad (a hard upper part keeps it from snagging on clothing as the gun is mounted.) It comes with Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder chokes, suitable for upland game and water fowling with steel or other non-toxic shot (others are available). The barrel selector is in the trigger, which is mechanical so a dud doesn't prevent a second shot. This is one of the final Alcione Field guns available. This Franchi Alcione Right Handed Field 12 & 20 Gauge set has been assembled and cased by Hero's Arms. It is new and unfired, and guaranteed by the importer, BenelliUSA for 3 years. It has both 12 Gauge and 20 Gauge barrels, each 28" long, with chambers in both gauges which will shoot both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. It comes with 5 chokes in each gauge, in 12 gauge: Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder and 2 Briley Skeet chokes added by Hero's Arms. In 20 Gauge: Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder and 2 Briley Skeet chokes added by Hero's Arms. The Firing Order Selector is in the trigger, just push to one side or the other to select which barrel fires first. The canvas and leather fitted case also holds choke tools, and a cleaning kit. This is an all purpose gun, equally suitable for all kinds of hunting, skeet, or sporting clays. The satin walnut stock has a 14 1/2" Length of Pull over a vent rubber pad, and 1/4" Cast Off (the butt of the stock is to the right of the centerline of the gun by 1/4") which makes it suitable for a right handed shooter. This New-In-Box Franchi Destino is a limited production (250 a year) high grade English style Side-by-Side. It has a straight stock of AAA walnut, with a 14 7/16" Length of Pull over a checkered wooden butt plate (it also comes with a rubber butt plate for rough use). It has a single selective trigger, firing order being determined by a slider on the automatic safety on the tang, and comes with "Lifters" or extractors which lift the fired hulls for easy removal and does not eject them into the woods. It has 26" barrels which shoot either 2 3/4" or 3" 20 Gauge shells, and has screw-in chokes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder constrictions. The receiver is tastefully engraved and has gold highlights. The water table and barrel flats are jeweled. It comes with a three year guarantee from BenelliUSA, the importer. Franchi Renaissance Twin Shock Absorber (TSA) recoil pads for Sporting, Field, Classic and Elite guns are available in different thicknesses. These TSA Pads also fit the Franchi I-12 Semi-Automatic. In the photo here the Gel insert has been pushed out (it just pushes in and out). Renaissance guns come with a 14 ½” pad, (which, with the gel pad inserted gives a 14 9/16” or 14 5/8” LOP). Substituting a 14 ¾” pad will increase the LOP to slightly over 14 ¾”, and the 15” pad will increase the LOP to slightly over 15”. Two Phillips Head screws hold the pad in place, making it easy to replace. Replacement pads are $40 with a $5.00 mailing charge. This Franchi Renaissance Sporting has been used for a few months. It is a beautiful gun for any clay target sport, it weighs 7 pounds 14.5 ounces (steel receiver for weight and durability) and has a Twin Shock Absorber recoil pad (with a translucent Technogel insert) which has a 14 1/2" Length of Pull. Other TSA pads are available or on back-order which will give a 14.75" or 15" LOP. It has an adjustable Monte Carlo stock which can be used to set the gun for left or right handed shooters, and for Trap, Skeet or Sporting Clays. It has a right handed palm swell. The sight is a lime green fiber optic for quick target acquisition. The barrels are ported to reduce recoil and allow for a quicker second shot. It comes with 5 choke tubes in Modified, Improved Cylinder, two Skeet and Cylinder constrictions, others are widely available as they interchange with Benelli tubes. The safety is manual, not automatic, so you won't miss a target because you forgot to take the gun off safe. The receiver has highly detailed engraving and a gold clay pigeon on each side, with another on the top lever. It comes cased with a stock wrench, a choke tube wrench, and oil. A set of used 20 Gauge Briley Side-Kick inserts are included (these cost $300 new) and allow the gun to shoot and eject 20 Gauge shells. I took this gun out for a couple of rounds of skeet, shot a 24 with the 12 Gauge and a 21 with the Briley inserts (not their fault, my usual misses). My shooting companions told me I should keep it.

HA597 Franchi Veloce O/U 28 Gauge 2 3/4", 26"MC Bbls (Used 99%) Cased, $1,445

This is a beautiful, light 28 Gauge slightly used Over/Under shotgun suitable for upland hunting, or for skeet. With 26" barrels and weighing only 5 pounds 10.5 ounces it is fast handling and lives up to its Italian name "Veloce." The figured walnut stock has a 14 1/2" Length of Pull over a sporting two part recoil pad which has a smooth plastic top part to keep from snagging clothes while being shouldered. The receiver is coin finished with gold birds on each side. It comes with a Modified, and two Improved Cylinder choke tubes (Briley Skeet tubes are available). The monoblock is jeweled, the top lever filigreed. It has a mechanical (not inertial) trigger selectable by moving the tang mounted automatic safety. The only sign that it has been used are a couple of tiny fingernail indentations near the top of the forearm on the right side. I shot two rounds of skeet with it with excellent results. It would be a wonderful ladies skeet gun.

Fabarms shotguns have been imported to the US from Italy, first by Heckler & Koch, later by Sigarms. They will be imported later this year by Tristar, which will also provide repair services. The Fabarms guns Hero's Arms has for sale were obtained from various distributors and other dealers. They are "New-In-Case" or "New-In-Box" but may have handling marks from their journey to and from various dealers. These "dings" or "blemishes" will be photographed and mentioned in the gun's write-up. The H&K imported guns have a "Lifetime" warranty, those imported by Sigarms do not appear to have a warranty. In either event they come with the Hero's Arms 7 day inspection and no-questions-asked return policy. These are superbly made and beautiful shotguns, at excellent prices.

All Fabarms shotguns have "Tribore" technology. "Tribore" features a 3 inch chamber with an extra long forcing cone, followed by an overbored (to .737 to.740") barrel, which then turns into a gradual cone, reducing in diameter from .737-40" to 720-24" over a distance of about 10 inches, before a short cylindrical area of about 2 inches just before the screw in choke tubes. According to Fabarm, the Tribore barrel increases shot penetration by 52%. This is much more expensive to manufacture than a straight tube.

Many Fabarms shotguns also have a "Triwood" finish. This is a procedure which enhances the grain of the wood and seals it against wear. The wood is not "wrapped" with a photograph of wood, but rather the grain is enhanced with an aniline dye. The result is a gun which has a stock that looks like exhibition grade walnut, with excellent protection, at a very reasonable price. Here is what Fabarms says about "Triwood": The TRIWOOD™ finish, introduced by FABARM in 2002 in a hi-tec process to improve the walnut grains and to warranty a perfect waterproof protection. TRIWOOD maintains also the warmth and feel of wood, all stocks are different. The walnut quality, its contrast, its grade are extremely important to obtain a perfect TRIWOOD stock. The key point is to have a perfect the mix between the original and additional grains. TRIWOOD is not a film fixed on the walnut; its a process to deposit ink on a piece of wood. The TRIWOOD stock is protected by a tough scratch – resistant semi gloss acrylic varnish. The TRIWOOD 100 GLOSS, on luxury shotguns, is with a high gloss lacquer.

HA363 H&K Fabarms Classic Lion Gd 1 SxS English Stock, DT, 12 Ga. 3" 26" MC Bbls, NIC, $1,595

This new Grade I Fabarm Classic Lion is imported and guaranteed by H&K. It is a 12 gauge Side by Side with double triggers. It has an nicely figured English (Straight) stock with a right hand palm swell, and 26" barrels. It has a semi-splinter forearm in the English style. . The barrels are Fabarm's "Tribore" technology. They feature a 3 inch chamber with an extra long forcing cone, followed by an overbored (to .740") barrel, which then turns into a gradual cone, reducing in diameter from .740 to .722 over a distance of about 10 inches, before a short cylindrical area of about 2 inches just before the screw in choke tubes. It comes with five Innerchokes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Cylinder bores. According to Fabarm, the Tribore barrel increases shot penetration by 52%. This has to be much more expensive to make than an ordinary barrel. Lockup is assured by four lugs, two each on the center-line of the barrels, which go into the water table - this gun is not going to shoot loose in a lifetime. It has an attractive walnut stock with a plastic butt plate and a 15" (front trigger) & 14 1/4" (back trigger) Length Of Pull. The receiver is silver with engraving. It comes cased, with gun socks, choke tool and the extra chokes. It is guaranteed for the lifetime of the original purchaser by H&K. It is an excellent value and a good choice for upland hunting.

This new Fabarm Competition Lion is imported and guaranteed by H&K. It is a 12 gauge Over & Under with a Pistol Grip stock (Right Hand Palm Swell) and Ported 28" barrels. The barrels are Fabarm's "Tribore" technology. They feature a 3 inch chamber with an extra long forcing cone, followed by an overbored (to .740") barrel, which then turns into a gradual cone, reducing in diameter from .740 to .724 over a distance of about 10 inches, before a short cylindrical area of about 2 inches just before the screw in choke tubes. It comes with four extended chokes in Full, Improved Modified, Modified, and Improved Cylinder bores (Other Fabarms 12 Ga. extended choke tubes are available from Briley). It has a 14 7/8" Length Of Pull (further adjustable by resetting the trigger) The receiver is silver with clay pigeons, and a lion on the underside. It comes in a case, which may not be original and shows wear, and a choke tool. There is a small ding in the right side of the stock. This is a competition firearm, well suited to sporting clays, or skeet. It is guaranteed for the lifetime of the original purchaser by H&K.

HA444 Fabarms Gamma 2 Competition O/U 12 Ga. 3", 30" Tribore MC Bbls., NIC, $1,895

The Fabarms Gamma 2 Competition is an all around clay shooting gun. It weighs 7 lbs 13.5 ounces, heavy enough to calm the recoil, not so heavy as to be tiring to carry. Its 6 position adjustable trigger allows the Length Of Pull to be adjusted from about 14 3/8" to 14 3/4". The receiver is engraved with an elegant floral scroll, and it has the Fabarms Lion Rampant in gold on the bottom. The barrels have Fabarm's "Tribore" technology. They feature a 3 inch chamber with an extra long forcing cone, followed by an overbored (to .736") barrel, which then turns into a gradual cone, reducing in diameter from .736" to 722" over a distance of about 10 inches, before a short cylindrical area of about 2 inches just before the screw in choke tubes. It comes with eight Titanium protected Extended chokes in Full, Light Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Light Modified, Improved Cylinder, Skeet, and Cylinder bores. According to Fabarm, the Tribore barrel increases shot penetration by 52%. This gun was imported by Sigarms but I don't believe they guarantee it, and there is no manual. So the only guarantee is the 7 day inspection period from Hero's Arms.
