HA573 Browning BPS Ambidextrous Stalker Pump 10 Ga. 3.5", 28"MC Bbl., NIB, $475

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

This Browning BPS is designed to shoot steel shot for waterfowl hunting,.  It is ambidextrous because it ejects from the bottom and the safety is on the top tang so either a right or left handed shooter can use it.  It weighs almost 10 pounds to soak up the recoil of a 10 gauge 3 1/2" shell.  It has been suggested that it is cheaper to use 10 Gauge steel shot rather than 12 Gauge High Density shot.  An inexpensive working gun for large birds.

HA559 Mossberg Silver Reserve Youth O/U (Compact Adult/Youth Ambidextrous) 20 Gauge 3", 26"MC, NIB, $475

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

It has an Extractor in place of Ejectors, but this Mossberg International Silver Reserve Youth (Bantam) 20 Gauge has everything else a Compact Adult/Youth or a Right/Left Handed shooter could ask for in an economical gun.  It has a Vent Rib, Chrome Plated Bores, 5 choke tubes and wrench (Full, Improved Modified, Modified and two Improved Cylinder). The stock has a 13 1/4" Length of Pull making it suitable for a young person or for an adult between 4'8" and 5'4", right or left handed. The stock is made from figured Turkish Black Walnut. It has a slight right hand palm swell, but this should not bother a left handed shooter as the stock has only a slight (1/8") cast to the right. It has a two part sporting recoil pad, with a hard plastic top to prevent snagging on clothes. It comes with a trigger lock and a one year warranty from Mossberg.  This is one of the very few Over/Under shotguns made with the smaller shooter in mind.

HA539 Winchester Select Model 101 12 Ga. 3", 28"MC Bbls, NIB $1,475

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

This Winchester Select Model 101 looks very much like the 101 Winchester imported from Japan from 1961 to 1987, but this one is made in Belgium by Fabrique National (which made the Browning Superposed) and has an action similar to the other Winchester Select shotguns, with a Beretta style lockup. As a 12 Gauge which takes 2 3/4" & 3" shells in 28" barrels with Invector Plus choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder supplied Skeet Available) and a non-Automatic safety, this is very much an all-around gun suitable for hunting or clay target sports.  It has a fairly short Length Of Pull, at 14 3/16", and no cast, so it would best fit a slightly shorter than average shooter, either right or left handed.  It's list price is $2,061 but Hero's Arms got a deal on it so we are selling it for only $1,475, probably less than anybody else. It comes with a Lifetime Replacement warranty from Davidson's. (Click the GuaranteeD Logo for details:)

HA527 Colt 1878 TTN Reproduction Coach Gun, Hammers, DT, 12 Ga. 3", 20" Cylinder Bbls., NIB, $425

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

This reproduction of a Colt 1878 Model SxS Hammer Shotgun was made in China specifically for Cowboy Action shooting.  It is, as far as I can tell, an absolutely authentic copy of the Colt 1878 which Hero's Arms sold to the importer in 2002, which they subsequently sent to China.  The variance from the original are principally for safety in that it has fluid steel barrels, instead of Damascus, and 3" chambers for modern shells.  It is built to a very high standard, both barrels are an absolutely straight .733" inside diameter, unusual on all but the highest quality guns, the wood to metal fit is excellent, and the gun functioned flawlessly for a round of skeet.  As with the original there is no safety, aside from not cocking the hammers.  Again, as with the original it has a very large drop at the comb and heel, and a steel buttplate.  This should be a very authentic Old West style coach gun for Cowboy Action shooting.  It could also be a reasonable home defense gun because the hammers provide a visible indication of cocking.

HA524 Remington Express 870 Pump Left Hand, Laminate Stock, 12 Ga. 3", 28"MC Bbl., NIB, $375

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

A utilitarian field gun which can also be used for clay target sports, this Remington 870 Express is set up for the left handed shooter.  It ejects from the left side, and has a Left Hand cross bolt safety.  It has a 13 15/16" Length Of Pull, making it suitable for the shorter shooter or for heavy hunting clothes.  It has an attractive (I think) and strong laminated stock. It comes with one choke tube in Modified constriction, but of course Remington chokes in other constrictions are widely available. It has a two year warranty from Remington.

HA496 Ithaca Model 66 SuperSingle Lever Opening, 12 Ga. 3", 28" IM Barrel, (Used 90%) $200

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

An unusual 12 Gauge single shot shotgun, it breaks open when the lever is pushed down.  It has an extractor which lifts the fired shell, and a hammer which must be manually cocked before firing.  Its 28" barrel is choked Improved Modified, and it has sling studs.  Because of its unique action there is apparently some collector interest, but it would also be some fun to shoot. This is from the same company that imported Perazzi single barreled trap shotguns in the 1970s, but it is a bit less expensive.

HA343 Arizaga (Gaspar) Side by Side DT Shotgun, 12 Ga. 2 3/4", 28"LM/LF, 80% Condition, $295

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click the photo above or click here.

A gun which shows signs of quality workmanship, this 12 Gauge side-by-side was made in Eibar, Spain, home of the Spanish/Basque firearms industry by Gaspar Arizaga a recognized manufacturer as their Mondial (world) model. It has fallen on hard times, the wood looks like it has been tossed in piles of guns, the metal shows some abrasions (although the case coloring on the receiver is still bright), and, adding insult to injury, a geographically challenged employ of the importer etched on the underside of the barrel that it was "Made in Belgium", which it clearly was not.  In any event this would make a rewarding project gun, a home defense gun, or a "beater" depending on your taste.  I had thought of cutting off the barrel to 18" or 19" and the stock behind the Prince of Wales Grip, remounting the back swivel on the tip of the grip and calling it a Lupara, (the short barreled-still legal length-shotgun favored in Sicily for protection against wolves) but I have not seen many wolves in Vermont.  Your call.

The Kahn Clays, made in Turkey, has the features desired by sporting clays shooters - ported barrels - high vent rib - two part slip recoil pad - automatic ejectors - heavy to tame the recoil - Close Radius Pistol Grip - long forcing cone - all at a reasonable price.  This particular gun would be ideally suited to a left handed shooter, or a right handed shooter with a very slender face, as the stock has a cast on (to the left of the centerline) and a right handed palm swell.  The receiver has an engraving of a clay target. It comes with a Lifetime Replacement warranty from Davidson's. (Click the GuaranteeD Logo for details:)

HA96 Winchester 101 Field Grade O/U 30 inch Bbls M/LM $825

For a full page of  photographs and a detailed description click here.

This Winchester 101 is in very good condition, it has a pattern of marks on the top of the stock at the heel which may have come from hitting a hearing protector, and a 3/8" long crack in the forearm between the front screw and the iron.  If has a bit of wear on the bluing on the bottom of the receiver.  It is listed as Full over Modified Chokes, but I read it as Modified over light Modified (Constrictions of .018 and .015).  In general it is in excellent
