Abbreviations Used by Hero's Arms |
|
A/C = Adjustable Comb means the top of the comb can be moved up and down, left and right to fit the shooter |
|
ANIB = As-New-In-Box means Imperceptibly used |
|
ANIC = As-New-In-Case means imperceptibly used |
|
Bbl. = Barrel means it only has one barrel |
|
Bbls. = Barrels means it has two (or three) barrels |
|
C = Cylinder Choke means no choke constriction at all, the bore is the same size all the way through |
|
Cast-Off = Distance in fractions of an inch the centerline of the butt plate or pad is to the right of the centerline of the gun (for right hand shooters) |
|
Cast-On = Distance in fractions of an inch the centerline of the butt plate or pad is to the left of the centerline of the gun (for left hand shooters) |
|
DAC = Drop-At-Comb means the distance in inches the comb of the stock is below the sighting plane |
|
DAH = Drop-At-Heel means the distance in inches the heel of the stock is below the sighting plane |
|
DAM = Drop-At-Monte-Carlo (if present) means the distance in inches the rear of the Monte Carlo on the stock is below the sighting plane |
|
DT = Double-Trigger means the gun has two triggers, one for each barrel` |
|
F = Full choke |
|
Fixed Choke = Means the barrels have the choke constrictions built in, no screw-in chokes |
|
IC = Improved Cylinder Choke |
|
IM = Improved Modified Choke (tighter than Modified) |
|
LF = Light Full choke (tighter than Improved Modified) |
|
LOP = Length-Of-Pull means the distance in inches the center of the trigger is from the center of the butt pad or plate |
|
LOTP = Length of Trigger Pull means the distance between the center of the trigger and the center of the pistol grip (not often used) |
|
M = Modified Choke |
|
MC = Multi-Choke means the gun has screw in chokes of various constrictions |
|
NIB = New-In-Box means unfired just as it came from the factory |
|
NIC = New-In-Case means unfired just as it came from the factory |
|
O/U = Over/Under Barrels |
|
Ported = The barrel(s) have vent holes drilled in the muzzle end to reduce recoil and muzzle jump |
|
RC = Rifled Choke to stabilize slugs |
|
SK = Skeet Choke |
| SNS = Single-Non-Selective Trigger. One barrel, usually the right or bottom barrel always fires first. |
|
Spreader = Rifled choke to make a wider pattern than a cylinder choke |
| SST = Single Selective Trigger A button or lever on the tang or trigger allows the selection of which barrel to fire first, and which fires second. |
|
Sub-Gauge = A tube or insert that allows shooting a smaller size shell in a barrel, a 20 Gauge Shell in a 12 Gauge barrel for example |

SxS = Side By Side Barrels |
|
XF = Extra-Full Choke usually for Handicap Trap or Turkey hunting |
